The conference takes place at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), one of the two federal technical Universities in Switzerland. With its 200 Professors, 2000 researchers and over 4700 students it is the second largest research center for engineering sciences of Switzerland.

EPFL is at a 10-minute-ride by local train from downtown Lausanne, next to the lake of Geneva, and 30 minutes by train from Geneva International Airport. It is certainly one of the most appealing areas in Europe with a beautiful view of the Alps' highest peak, the Mont-Blanc.

EPFL has the entire infrastructure to host a large scientific conference (presentation rooms, technical support, Internet access, restaurants etc.)

Detailed information on How to get to EPFL will be available here soon; meanwhile, have a look at these maps on EPFL's internet site.

From May 2002 until the end of October, the National Exposition EXPO.02 will be held in Switzerland. It is the largest national event, taking place only every 40 years.

In 2002, the exposition will be located around the three lakes at the foot of the Jurassic area of Switzerland, around 1 hour drive from Lausanne.
An exhibition area of around 2000 m2 of EXPO.02 in Neuchatel is dedicated to robotics (see http://robotics.epfl.ch/).

A special evening event will take place in Neuchatel. It will combine the conference banquet and a visit of the Robotics pavilion presented by ten mobile robots.

This will enable the attendees to discover the picturesque environment of the three lakes and the National Exhibition EXPO.02.
